Boarding and Vaccination Policy

Dogs are all unique individuals and their vaccination schedules should be discussed and agreed upon with their veterinarian.

Over the years, boarding various breeds and personalities have only solidified the notion that not all dogs are the same!

Our passion and goal at Kennel at Strodes Run is to keep your (and our part-time) furry family healthy and happy during their stay with us.

We encourage you, the pet-parents, to make informed decisions on your choice of vaccinations for your particular pet.

We must always adhere to Rabies as it is both state and federal law. See below for other vaccination requirements.

Rabies vaccine is required by both state and federal law in order to board. It must be given at 3 months, 1 year and every 3 years thereafter.

Distemper - Distemper is often paired with Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, etc. Distemper is considered a “Core” vaccine by veterinarians and regulatory agencies. That said, we do require all dogs have up-to-date distemper vaccination. Puppies receive a series of shots until they are 4 to 5 months old, then an additional booster at 1 year of age. Adult dogs receive boosters every 3 years.

Bordetella - Although, Bordetella like Parainfluenza, Lyme, and Leptospirosis are “Non-core” vaccines and are given depending on the dog’s exposure and risk, we do required Bordetella vaccinations. These are typically annual vaccines.

Proof of vaccines on veterinarian letterhead is required.

In addition, we now require a 2 week lead time between boarding elsewhere, or using daycare, and boarding at our facility.

Two weeks is the approximate incubation period of a contagious cough or cold, so symptoms should arise in that time frame if a pet has been infected.

These protocols are designed so that we can do our best to keep your pets healthy. Although it is impossible to completely prevent a canine cold, our policies will help drastically reduce the number of occurrences and reduce the chance of spreading. Thank you for keeping all of our boarding pets safe!
